Endurance GB ride at The Dukeries
The Dukeries at Thoresby Park in the heart of Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest hosted a very successful Endurance Festival at the end of May with something for everyone, from a 5km lead rein class to the 160km FEI 3*** Endurance Ride, all running over the undulating forest tracks.
The results from The Dukeries are online at www.ponies.me/uk/dukeries and Organiser Sue Broughton was delighted with the choice of easibed for the Festival’s stabling.
She said afterwards, “easibed worked incredibly well and there were some very positive comments from those who had not used it before. From a clearing up perspective it worked much better than shavings as we were able to scoop up the remains from the field once the temporary stables had been removed. The landowners also preferred it as there was no mess left at all, unlike shavings or paper, which seem to stick to everything!!!!
“This event gets bigger every year with more foreign entries and easibed has been very successful. It was appreciated by all of us – especially the horses!
What are The Dukeries?
In north-west Nottinghamshire lie the present day remains of Sherwood Forest, once the playground of kings and dukes. The landscape between Mansfield and Worksop originally comprised huge private estates, established by nobility in a 200-year shopping spree that used the profits from the industrial revolution. Three of these estates, Clumber Park, Thoresby and Welbeck were the country seats of powerful dukes and today, they are still known as 'The Dukeries'.
